Discovering Potential: Achieving Success

Fostering in Bradford and its surrounding areas with Fostering2Inspire

In the west of Yorkshire, the City of Bradford offers a range of distinctive experiences, from heritage and culture, to woodland walks and vast open spaces.

Being based in West Yorkshire ourselves, we like to think we have a good knowledge of the area and understand the needs of the people living in it. We believe that Bradford is an incredible place to live in and to visit. During the 19th century Industrial Revolution the City became known as the 'Wool Capital of the World'. A leading figure in this period of prosperity was Sir Titus Salt, a forward-thinking industrialist and philanthropist who founded Saltaire in 1853, a vast textile mill and model village that is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A further prestigious award from this international organisation came in 2009, when Bradford became the world’s first UNESCO City of Film. It received the title due to its rich film heritage, its inspirational movie locations and its many celebrations of the moving image through the city’s annual film festivals.

Bradford has a rich cultural tradition, arts scene and great opportunities for entertainment, offering a wide range of activities for people fostering children. Well worth a visit is the National Science and Media Museum, which includes the interactive Wonderlab gallery, exploring the science of light, sound and perception through state-of-the-art, hands-on activities and breathtaking shows. For art lovers, Cartwright Hall has a terrific permanent exhibition of paintings by the internationally famous local artist David Hockney.

Our team can also point you and your family in the direction of ways to enjoy a different type of exhilarating experience. We urge you to visit City Park, featuring a brilliant award winning high tech water feature. There you can see 100 fountains, laser lights, mist and water effects and much more.

You could also take in a show at The Bradford Alhambra Theatre in the City’s West End. This terrific venue seats 1,400 people, and is a popular choice for touring companies, from the Northern Ballet, to the National Theatre. As a member of the Dance Consortium, it hosts the best in large scale entertainment, and international dance. Before or after, you could have a meal at one of over 200 Asian restaurants, many of them award winning, which have earned Bradford the title of “Curry Capital of Britain” for a record number of years.

Outside the City, there are swathes of glorious countryside. Being located 16 miles northwest of Wakefield in the foothills of the Pennines means there are walks for all ages catering for those who want challenging hikes, to those looking for a tranquil Sunday stroll.

For the adventurous, some of the walks that Bradford offers includes The Bradford Millennium Way with its 45 mile circular walk through idyllic countryside. This includes the Dales Way, which extends a staggering 80 miles, and the Welcome Way which traverses 28 miles of West Yorkshire.

With this in mind, creating the perfect family day out within the City or in its beautiful surroundings is not hard to do. We would be happy to help you plan any activities you are interested in. This way you will not have the stress of sorting everything out on your own and you can benefit from our extensive knowledge of both fostering and the city of Bradford.
