Discovering Potential: Achieving Success

What is Foster Care?

Starting on a journey to become a foster carer can be an exciting, but also very daunting. Don’t worry Fostering2Inspire is here to support and guide you every step of the way.

Fostering takes place in your own home and therefore it is essential to become a foster parent you have at least one spare bedroom.

What is fostering? So what is foster care, and what do foster carers do? In short, taking on a foster child or young adult involves the encouragement and development of that child. It offers you the chance to provide a stable family environment for those who are unable to live with their own family at the time and allows the children in your care to thrive and grow.

Foster care differs from adoption, as looking after these children and young adults remains the legal responsibility of the local authority and/or their birth parents. However, that is not to undermine the incredible and sometimes challenging work of being a foster parent.

We understand that fostering a child is a major decision, and because of this Fostering2Inspire have made sure our process is streamlined and our support constant.

There are a variety of reasons why children and young people can no longer live with their birth families and need to come into foster care.

We require family homes that can offer these vulnerable children and young people a safe, caring and stable environment. Fostering can be very challenging and emotive. Our fostered children and young people may have experienced past trauma and abuse which can affect who they are and how they behave. When you become a foster parent with us you are tasked with transforming young lives and this can be an extremely rewarding experience for our fostering families.
