Discovering Potential: Achieving Success

Fostering in Rotherham and its surrounding areas with Fostering2Inspire

Located in South Yorkshire is the bustling town of Rotherham, which together with its outlying settlements to the north, south and south-east forms the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham.

The town centre of Rotherham occupies a valley between two hills: the Keppels Column and Canklow Hill. Being located only a short drive away in Wakefield we have a strong understanding of what the area has to offer for our foster families.

Rotherham has a wide variety of characterful pubs and restaurants, offering every kind of delicious menu from fine dining to local specialities, as well as a full range of Indian, Chinese and other ethnic cuisine experiences.

Business and leisure activities are supported by excellent communications between the town and other parts of South Yorkshire. For instance, the Tram Train service, which has been operating between Rotherham and Sheffield since December 2018, won the prestigious Global Light Rail Award, for “recognising excellence and innovation in the global light and urban rail sector.”

The town is surrounded by glorious areas of natural beauty, which means the local residents of Rotherham are spoilt for choice when it comes to getting away from the humdrum city life.

For those with families there are various parks that cater to family days out. Rother Valley Country Park, located in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, which consists of 750 acres of parkland and includes areas of open water, grassland, woodland as well as footpaths, bridleways and cycle routes. A haven for wildlife, as well as a centre of excellence for education, water sports and other outdoor pursuits. If you are fostering in Rotherham, there are many terrific attractions for all the family to enjoy.

We have also been able to identify activities for those looking to enjoy the culture Rotherham has to offer. The Clifton Park Museum and South Yorkshire Transport Museum provide a fantastic insight into the history of the town. Additionally, both visitors and residents can enjoy walks around Wentworth Woodhouse, a Grade 1 listed country house with beautiful gardens to explore.
